How to use this tool

Break-even Calculator shows the minimum conditions for profitable mining: coin price, electricity rate, network difficulty and optional hardware payback time.

How it works

  • Select coin and hardware (or enter custom hashrate/power) — the same catalog used by the Mining Calculator.
  • Break-even price is the minimum coin price where revenue covers electricity and pool fees at current network difficulty.
  • Break-even electricity is the maximum $/kWh you can pay and still break even — compare it to your actual utility rate.
  • Max viable difficulty and min hashrate show how much harder the network can get (or how little hash you need) before mining turns unprofitable.
  • Enter hardware cost to estimate payback days when daily profit is positive; the sensitivity table shows profit across electricity rates.

What to consider

  • Break-even assumes constant network difficulty and block reward — difficulty rises over time, shrinking real margins.
  • Coin price break-even ignores hardware depreciation, maintenance and pool luck.
  • A “tight margin” status flags setups within ~15% of break-even on price or electricity.
  • Use alongside Mining Calculator for full revenue/profit projections at your actual rates.
  • Not financial advice — model outputs for planning only.
